Dear Parent,
Compliment of the season. We are pleased to welcome you to the Easter Term of 2017/2018 Academic session!Thanks be to God for sparing our lives up till this moment. We want to thank our valued Parents for the love, dedication and commitment you have demonstrated towards the growth and development of the School and we appreciate all the efforts made on the payment of Children’s school fees last year irrespective of the economy situation in the country. We pray the Lord would continually enrich your pocket.
You are welcome to another Edition of our Newsletter. We hope the previous Editions have been insightful and informative. Please read on for more information on this edition.
A NEW DAWN! A NEW CHALCEDONY!:
We trust God that this year would be to Chalcedony School a year of harvest and lifting. We want to thank you for believing in us all these years and we are glad to inform you that Chalcedony is moving to the next level in terms of facilities and productivity. We have put in place a better equipped, more professional and well experienced Security Service to enhance our output. Thank you for cooperating with them to serve you better.
Presently, work is in progress in terms of clearing of acres of land in preparation for Sporting Complex, Multipurpose and Dining Hall as well as fencing of the entire school complex with American-barb wire. The work would be completed in phases. The first phase of the project would be completed as soon as possible by God’s grace.
The library project is on-going for both the Junior and High school. We would like to use this opportunity to appreciate Mr & Mrs Ade-flourish for their contribution towards the Junior school library. May The Lord continually meet you at your points of need. We want to use this media to welcome more donations from Parents towards both libraries in cash or kind (books).
ETHICS FOR THE TERM: The Moral Ethics for this term is ‘Excellence’. We are fully aware that the success of our Children is dependent on a positive relationship between home and school. On this note, we appeal to our parents to work with the School in imbibing in our Children the benefits of giving their time and energy to things they believe in, in order to have an outstanding result.
Students/Pupils Resumption: We implore our Parents to ensure that their wards adhere strictly to the rules and regulations process of the school in terms of conduct, uniformity in appearance, hairdo e.t.c. No contra-band of any sorts would be accepted and theft amongst the Students/Pupils is prohibited. Thank you for your co-operation in helping to raise a total child.
New Parents Coffee Morning (Wednesday 10 January, 2018): This is the period to familiarise our new parents with the school and get them to understand what we stand for in Chalcedony School as an institution.
Career Week (Monday 22 – Friday 26 January, 2018): This programme involves dignitaries from different works of live having some time with the High School students to enlighten them on how to make choices on different career opportunities. The Theme for this year is “Shaping your future through Excellence”.
GENERAL PARENTS MEETING: This is scheduled for Saturday 27 January, 2018 by 10:00am at the school hall. We look forward to seeing you.
Spelling Bee 5th Edition (Tuesday 30 January, 2018): Chalcedony School will be hosting other schools within Lagos Metropolis to a Spelling Bee competition scheduled for Tuesday, 30th January 2018. The program is an Inter-School competition which is envisioned at refining and lengthening the scope of the pupils in spelling skills as well as keeping a communal relationship among Schools in the neighbourhood.
Valentine Concert (Pre-School) and Parents Consultation: This event would hold on Wednesday 14 February, 2018 at the School Hall from 9:00am. The dress code is “A touch of Red” for the Students and Pupils.
Parents Consultation holds immediately after the Concert by 11:00am.
Inter-house Sport (Saturday 17 February, 2018): Details would be communicated to you later.
Half Term Break (Monday 19- Friday 23 February, 2018): The School would embark on Half Term Break immediately after the Inter-house Sports. Please note that the Boarders would be going home with their Parents on that day.
Mother’s Day (Friday 9 March, 2018): This is the day set aside to recognise and appreciate all our esteemed mothers and show them how much we truly value and love them.
Entrance Scholarship Examination (High School): The first batch of the entrance Examination into High School would hold on Saturday 10 March, 2018 by 9:00am. Application Forms would be available with effect from this week at the front desk or online at the rate of Five Thousand Naira. Parents are employed to please help spread this information to their Families and Friends.
Entrance Examinations/Checkpoint/IGCSE Classes: The school is glad to inform you that the preparatory lessons for the various examinations would commence on Wednesday 10 January (Afternoon Classes), Monday 15 January (Morning Classes). Saturday Classes for Entrance Lessons (Years 5 and 6) would commence on 20th January between 9:00am and 1:00pm. Parents should please co-operate with the school to make the children available for these Classes.
AFTER SCHOOL / CLUB ACTIVITIES: The After School for Pre- School and Junior School would start on Monday 15 January, 2018 while all Clubbing activities start on Friday 19 January, 2018. The following clubs are available in the school: Taekwondo, Football, Chess, Music, Ballet/Stepper and Swimming. Pre-school (Nursery & Year R) children interested in swimming club are to come with their floaters and other swimming kits every Friday. Please note that the Thursday Reading Club for the Years R to year 4 children would commence next-week.
ENTREPRENUERSHIP: The Skill Acquisition Program is an extra-curricular activity (which include: Photography/Videography, Hair-Making, Dress-Making etc.) designed for the Boarders to broaden their knowledge of the vocational world would kick-off this Easter Term.
Easter Term Examination: This is scheduled for Monday 19 –Friday 23 March, 2018 (High School), Tuesday 20- Thursday 22 March, 2018(Junior School).
Family Fun Day: Family Fun Day would hold on the 24th March, 2018. More information would be communicated to you later.
End of Term: The School would close for the term on Wednesday 24 March, 2018.
